When I think about Super Bowl party treats, usually chicken wings, pizza, and chips are the first things to come to mind. I mean what would a Super Bowl party be without some greasy wings during half time. But during a recent search on Pinterest, I came across these chocolate covered football strawberries.

These original ones are from Shari’s Berries. They are almost too cute to eat. But the best part is that they are really easy to make. And strawberries are a fruit, so even though technically they’re smothered in chocolate, when compared to the traditional Super Bowl party fare these could be considered a more healthy treat.

You will need:

1 lb of strawberries, rinsed and dried
2 cups of dark chocolate candy melts
1 cup of white chocolate candy melts
a squeeze bottle or icing pouch
fork
wax paper
a cookie sheet

1. Melt 2 cups of dark chocolate candy melts in the microwave.

2. Pierce a strawberry with a fork and dip into the chocolate, covering the fruit. Place on a wax paper lined cookie sheet to dry.

3. Once all of the strawberries have been dipped, let chill for 10 – 15 minutes.

4. Melt the white chocolate candy melts in the squeeze bottle. (If using an icing pouch, melt in a bowl and add to the icing pouch.)

5. Decorate each strawberry with the football lacing design. I kept it simple with one vertical line and three short horizontal dashes. You could also add lines to the top and bottom or more horizontal dashes.

6. Let the strawberries chill for another 10 to 15 minutes.

Once hardened, they are ready to be shared by football fans alike. It doesn’t matter whose team you’re cheering for, everyone is sure to be a fan of this sweet touchdown treat!
