Trend Tuesday: Picture Frame Turned Serving Tray
As I am starting to plan Little Bug’s two parties in August, I’ve been exploring a variety of interesting tray liners. Trays can come in all shapes in sizes and even be made out of unexpected objects. One trend I’ve noticed is turning picture frames into serving trays. These trays are wonderful party addition because they come in all shapes and sizes. Using the glass insert, you can easily change out the filler with any scrapbook or decorative paper. This is a great way to add pops of color and pattern to your food styling. Here is a round up of some fun frame tray examples.

This project from Camp Granma transformed a vintage wood frame into a dessert tray. With a little sanding and red paint, she created a beautiful serving piece for her cupcakes.
If you are looking for a tray that you can write dessert names and messages for your guests on, upcycle a picture frame into a chalkboard tray. All that you need to do is paint the glass with chalkboard paint and you have a perfect serving piece for your next cheese and wine party!
One way to get a more permanent look for your frame tray is to decoupage a napkin to the back of the glass. There are so many beautiful napkin designs out there that I think it would be hard to choose. Either choose a pattern in your favorite colors or that match your theme. For example if you wanted to make a tray that coordinated with your seaside summer party, stick with a nautical napkin design or pattern in navy blue and white.

I love the creators at Better Homes and Garden added beautiful drawer pulls as handles to dress up this frame serving tray. It’s an easy way to transform what once was a picture frame into a beautiful party accessory.
Picture frames to serving trays – what will they think of next? I think I might try making an interchangeable one first. I love the idea of being able to use one piece for many parties.

Another great interchangeable party solution just like the cake stand in your earlier post. You’re sharing all the tricks of the trade!
Love this idea! I have been investigating different ways to use old picture frames or even buying some from the dollar store. I like the idea of attaching handles and making a tray!
There’s so many great ideas and they’re easy to change up. The Dollar Store is a great resource for them. Also scavenge garage sales and flea markets. You’d be surprised by what you’ll find.
